Do you sell the criss cross frames? We currently do not sell the old motto style frames. We are working on it though! We hope to offer them in the near future. Your best bet for finding an old frame is an antique shop or ebay. I have found inexpensive mahogany frames at discount stores that would fit a motto. These usually have vertical prints in them. When I find them, I buy them up!
Why would you stitch it onto paper? Doesn't it rip? Motto paper is actually a thick paper that resist tearing. Many of the old mottos are 150+ years old and are still in great condition. This paper is durable, and will last for years if kept from water, and steam. Years ago, women stitched on perforated card stock because linen was so very expensive.
Do you do custom work? I have an old motto that I would like recreated. Yes, we do offer custom kits and have many requests for this service. The cost for a custom motto is $120.00 for labor and $48.00 for the actual kit. If you want an old kit replicated, you must supply high quality photos of the original piece. If you would like an original concept created, we will work with you until you are pleased with the motto design. After the design is completed, there is a 2 week waiting period for proofing and printing. The design image remains the property of Vintage Needleworks.
