Stitching
Instructions:
Before you begin your motto, please read the Vintage Needleworks
Stitching Guide completely. This is enclosed in your kit.
Begin your motto by satin
stitching the letters using the variegated red floss. The small
scrollwork embellishments in the letters M and C can be
backstitched in red (see above). The holly berries should be satin
stitched in red. Next, using the green floss, stitch the background
scrollwork in either a scattered cross stitch or running stitch with a
few spaces between each stitch as in the example, or simply backstitch
it. The holly leaves can be satin stitched from left to right or you can
satin stitch to the middle of the leaf to create the appearance of a
vein in the leaf. Then starting from the other side of the holly leaf,
stitch back to the "middle vein" to fill it in completely. Refer to the
picture for additional help. The pine branches should be backstitched
using one long stitch per pine needle to cover the printed pattern…do
not worry about the angle. Merry Stitching! |
